Google Earth Engine brings together the world's satellite imagery
— trillions of scientific measurements dating back over 40 years
— and makes it available online with tools for scientists,
independent researchers, and nations to mine this massive
warehouse of data to detect changes, map trends and quantify
differences on the Earth's surface. Applications include:
detecting deforestation, classifying land cover, estimating forest
biomass and carbon, and mapping the world’s road less areas.

Street View
Now you can fly from outer space down to the streets with Street View. Seamlessly
integrated with Google Earth, Street View lets you experience the streets like never
before. In this video you will learn how to navigate in Street View and toggle to
ground-level view.
To view street-level imagery for a specific location, zoom into an area
at an altitude of approximately 500km. You will see a pegman icon appear at the top right below the navigation controls. Click and drag the icon across the 3D viewer. A blue border will appear around roads that have street-level imagery available.
Drop the
on a road with the blue border and you will enter Street View. While in
Street View, all applicable layers that are selected in the left panel
under Layers are also visible.
You can navigate and rotate your view while in Street View mode by doing any of the following:
Double click an area of the image with your mouse.
Drag the imagery to the right or left with your mouse. In some locations, you can drag the imagery down to look skyward.
Use the keyboard arrows.
Use the scroll wheel of your mouse
To exit Street View, select the Exit Street View button located at the top right.
If Street View is not available in a particular location, you will automatically enter the ground-level view.

Google Earth has been a key helper in humanitarian efforts in Darfur by
providing organized, updated information. The use of layers by Google
Earth is not only notifying internet users, but it is also offering more
organized systems so that the government and non-government
organizations can organize their information. Perhaps Google’s name is
being promoted, but more importantly, the company is effectively getting
the word out in hope to help the victims of genocide.

Google Earth combines data of different resolution to offer a seamless viewing experience, so some locations look a bit blurry. We offer high resolution imagery (greater than 1-meter) for thousands of cities and more are on the way. If you are experiencing extremely blurry imagery in various places within Google Earth.
